Discounts at the cost of competence and customer service

Unfortunately, with Walmart you sacrifice competence and customer service – just to save a measly couple of bucks. I went to this particular Walmart (Walmart store # 937, 2795 Chastain Meadow, Marrietta, GA 30066) to send some money via MoneyGram. Well for one, the line was long and no one was at the Money Center. Some one ultimately called someone, but the line soon grew. Some loud and outrageous young man with deer antlers came and decided to help with the line. I believe according to his name tag, he was a ‘customer service manager’, but he was clueless. Before started the transaction, we asked him what was the limit and fees and he didn’t know. He asked the other woman, then threw his hands in the air and said that ‘he didn’t want to do this anymore’ when we told him how much/to whom we were sending the money. BTW, next day Walmart and I spoke to MoneyGram, come to find out that this ‘customer service manager’ and the other Walmart crew were wrong in the limits and process to send the amount of money we were trying to send. After this ‘customer service manager’ left (upon refusing to do our money transfer), another Walmart employee took over. She was polite, but she was also a bit clueless. When she printed out the receipt for me to sign. I advised her that the recipient’s name was not like how I put it on the MoneyGram order. So, there you go, that ‘customer service manager’ was busy coming up with reasons to refuse to do the money transfer, instead of inputting the information correctly on the transfer. But, thankfully, the other Walmart employee fixed it. Now, when this other Walmart employee completed the second money transfer, my address was wrong. I asked her to fix it, but she refused – saying that it was not necessary. I insisted, but she insisted, so what can you do? I took her word and was wrong. The next day I get a call from the recipient of the second money transfer, letting me know the transaction was “blocked”. I went back to Walmart and the employee at the Money Center called MoneyGram and MoneyGram advised the Walmart employee that Walmart was wrong about the limits on money that could be sent. Well, after staying on/off hold for the longest, and several transactions done by the Walmart employee and another ‘manager’ to resend the money, there was an error in the recipients’ name. Again, I asked that it be fixed, and had to wait again. So, I browsed the store and came back. Well, the manager came back again to help the Walmart employee and told me he corrected the recipient’s name, but could not give me another receipt showing proof of it. I was upset, but what can you do? Two – three hours later, I get a call from the recipient, letting me know that he cannot pick up the money because of the spelling of his last name. I, at past 2PM, have not had any breakfast, spent most of my morning trying to fix Walmart’s error from the previous day, had to jump into my vehicle, spend time and gas to drive back to Walmart. When I went back to Walmart, I asked for the store manager and all I got was several floor managers who “claimed” that there was no store manager present, but they would take my information. I got even more upset. Then, one of these floor managers – smacking chewing gum and talking to me like I’m a fool - said that she was refusing service to me. Mind you, not once did she even apologize for the *** poor service I had and/or cared to ask why I was so upset. I left her and went to the Money Center, and just like how I was allowed to go to the front of the line earlier that day, I did the same. Well, this floor manager, she followed me. The customers were upset because I went to the front of the line. I tried explaining to them that I’ve been here earlier this morning, that the recipients of my money transfer were standing by waiting on the money, and I needed to fix this. The floor manager called security and I pulled out my cellphone to start recording and was told to leave the building. I refused and continued recording and both the floor manager and some guy she called (perhaps store security) told one of the customers in line to go ahead and call 911 because they were doing the same. So, I left the store. Therefore, after two days of going back and fort to Walmart, being told erroneous information, being disrespected by Walmart and its employees, I was kicked out of the store. Now, they can say what they want to say about my conduct today, but after being yanked around for two days, spending gas and time to do a simple transaction that should have only been done “once” from the get-go, how would you feel? Wouldn’t you be upset? So, there you go, discounts in exchange for incompetence and beyond garbage for customer service.

this isnt a complaint but i had read complaints about walmart here. I wanted to share my great service i got with everyone. I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience with everyone on my experience with the customer service assistance I received from the employees at the Walmart Supercenter at 19th Ave and Bell , in Phoenix, AZ. I had bought a 50 inch tv on Thanksgiving for one of the Walmart deals. I hadnt had a chance to set it up until recently. At the top of the screen there was a blemish. Like the screen wasnt laying flat. It looked like a rippled at the top of the screen. When certain colors were displaying on the screen it made the picture look even worse. I spoke to James in the electronics department at the 19th ave and bell Walmart Location and he said they didnt have anymore of that model in but had a 50 inch that was a newer model , but was a higher price. James went beyound regular customer service assistance. He took my name and number down. Called me back and Ok'd it with the store manager to do a even exchange for the new model TV they had that was a higher price. . James was the first employee from that Walmart location that provided me with outstanding assistance. When I got to the Store, Christine in Customer Service department.assisted in locating James and getting the information. She helped me go to my car and get the box and TV out.By the time we got in with that stuff , James had the new TV at Customer Service. Christine worked on getting the exchange processed and was efficent. After the exchange she even helped me get the new tv to my car and into it. I really apprecaited her assistance. Additional Angie the Custoemr Service manager assisted Christine with the exchange , she had a great attitude. I would like to take this opportunity to thank James, Christine, and Angie for their exceptional custoemr service and putting my faith in Walmart. Thanks

I am a LOYAL WALMART CUSTOMER!! Bought a laptop less than 2 months ago.

I take online classes and now the computer decides that it wants to freeze and not allow me to get on the internet. Went back to Walmart, and they tells me that I can't return or exchange. Only through the manufacturing company. I didn't buy it through them, I bought it there so I want them to do What's right.

I'm soooooooo furious right now. I have classes to take and can't. They tells me 15 days. Of course it's gonna work more than 15 days.

I'm calling corporate because their assistant managers were VERY RUDE!! And just to think WALMART was my favorite store!! They lost a customer, and I'm writing statements on every site that I find to report them!! I'm callinformed corporate!!

The employwere who works in electronics told me herself that I could get my money back!! Lies!!!

On your receipt it tells you how many days you have to return or exchange----15.

The policy on electronics is 15 days. Doesn't matter that you bought it from Walmart and not the manufacturer, after 15 days you can't take it back to Walmart.

Telling someone no does not mean that they are rude. You need to grow up! Your ranting and raving won't get you what you are after.

The electronics employee must have been new and unaware of the policy. You can report Walmart to all the sites you want but policy is policy, they stuck by it and you will just have to deal with it or let your anger cause you to have a stroke.

Why didn't you call the manufacturer if it's that important? You do realize that they get these items from somewhere, right?

Sometimes calling the manufacturer is better anyways. Some can type in the serial code and figure out what is going on.

If they had a sign by the computers with a return policy on them it would be easier on them and you.

However, not everyone reads the signs lol.

Dissatisfied with a transaction? WHAT TO DO~

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Any bakery with trained staff SHOULD be able to produce a wedding cake as ordered. 'No major issue with the cake' someone said? What if you ordered chocolate cake in pink and blue icing and got an orange flavored birthday cake decorated in Halloween colors and reading "Happy 100th Halloween, Grandma!" Still no 'issue'? S/he ordered something specific. S/he got something that in no way resembled what was ordered. If they 'didn't do' wedding cakes, they should have declined with apologies. S/he was due a refund (gift card at least) AND an appropriately constructed free replacement, imho, especially having to drive a long distance to the store. The best thing would have been to talk to the general manager of the store if the bakery manager would not fully compensate her for the mistake and trouble, and if that didn't work, contact the regional manager and if no satisfaction was obtained there, contact corporate offices, Consumer Affairs. NOT call 'customer service', mind you. Corporate contacts are available via Google. If there was a time issue and local contacts were not helpful, she could have accepted the 'deal', gotten her cake and THEN contacted corporate directly. I'm SURE they would have compensated her appropriately. Get to the corporate level and they WILL do everything they can to make you happy if you have a legitimate complaint, as this appeared to be. I think s/he STILL ought to do it. It has nothing to do with 'cheap'. It has to do with consumer confidence and loyalty and fairness to the customers that made them what they are--America's largest big box store.

I agree and since the person posting that comment is obviously six years old isn't it up to mommy or daddy where they shop. Mommy and daddy could have taken them for the refund earlier instead of waiting 17 days. I know they are in fact six years old because only a six year old would throw a temper tantrum when the rules are not bent just for them.

15-day limit? It's at least 30 days in most stores.

Like I said, follow the instructions in my post and you will most probably get satisfaction.

Sometimes you have to ACT . :)

Here is a website about Walmart "holiday returns" and the extended policy. http://help.walmart.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9/~/return-policy

Yes, electronics are usually a tighter return window, but again, this was a holiday and a gift.

I think you can make your case and get satisfaction. I really do.

Guest

So you expect a free wedding cake exactly the way you want it and monetary compensation also? Greed at its best....and I'm not talking about Walmart.

They may have accidently gotten the orders mixed up, however you do not deserve the moon and stars because of it.

Too bad everyone can't be perfect like you, mistakes happen, its a part of life. Get another cake and move along.

It is called get a job so you don't have to beg for free food, I feel sorry for the person they are going to marry. If they have to beg for free cake they are obviously not financially ready to be married and should move back in their parents basement.

Watch battery

I needed to replace my watch battery an went to the jewelry counter an waited for someone to come an assist me, when the lady finally came she told me very rudely that if I didn't buy the watch there they could not sell me a battery, is this normal store policy an why, she was a angry woman. I think the lady was mad because someone had to go an get her to come an do her job, I was waiting politely there for assistance, if this is a store policy then they should post a sign that says it, I thought when they got rid of the other lazy manager this new manager would have made some store changes but it seems its still the same hateful people who throw shade at yopu when you need them to do their job

Faulty product being sold by Walmart

I bought a week ago two sets of George underwear in Walmart and found it to be a piece of garbage. After one day of wearing it stretched out from size M to size XL. When I complained about it in the shop and later by phone I was told the same thing: Walmart doesn’t take any responsibility for faulty underwear! They have signs how much they care about their customers and their satisfaction with the products Walmart sells but when it happens, they tell you get lost because, as they put it, all underwear is a final sale so if the customer is out of luck, this is not Walmart’s problem. They don’t even say that they will contact the manufacturer and tell them about the faulty product. How can a big company get away with that, is beyond my comprehension.

The medium probably "stretched" to an extra large because you're trying to buy sizes that don't fit you. You think you're smaller than you actually are. You stretched it out yourself because it was too small for you.

Walmart Pharmacy Tarpon Springs, FL

Well, it seems the rudeness to elderly people at the pharmacy counter is a trend across the country, when you read these posts... I watched as Marissa at the Tarpon Springs FL store took obvious pleasure in making my 73 year old mother wait, and wait, and wait, and wait before she would go to the refrigerator for her insulin.

I mean it. Marissa couldn't see me from where I stood off to the side, but she was getting off on her little power trip. ZERO sense of urgency while five other customers arrived behind my mom, ZERO people skills. Then, the "cashier" who had even less people skills kept the game going, asked my mom FOUR TIMES for her birth date.

Four... times... when my mom finally walked away from the counter, the cashier and Marissa were exchanging looks behind my mom's back that can only be construed one way by all who saw it: contempt for the customer. CONTEMPT.

If they aren't happy with their lives, they shouldn't be in the customer service game, PERIOD. Then we got in the car and realized they only filled the prescription for ONE bottle of insulin when there should have been three.

Horrible, horrible service, and we only use them because that's the only pharmacy in town who will use my moms insurance. They are the absolute worst!!!

If you were a good daughter, you would have allowed your 73 year old mother to sit and wait while you stood in line for her instead of standing off to the side where they couldn't see you. I highly doubt the pharmacy associates were intentionally making your mother wait just for the fun of it, but it does seem that you were intentionally making you're mother stand unnecessarily just for something to complain about.

Guest

I'm soooo sure the employees were set on making YOUR POOR mother suffer. I'm so sure that as SOON as they saw her they smirked to themselves and thought "this is gonna be great!

We're totally gonna get this old bag!"

You sound so annoying. I bet your mother doesn't even like going shopping with you.

Abigail Hlb

Thanks, Jeff. I was thinking the same thing.

If she didn't get all of them there must be a good reason. Every time I go to the pharmacy I have to wait, just like everyone else.

Guest

Customers like you amuse me the way you analyze every little thing. You are impatient and now think their all out to get you...lol.

Your mother is not the first person whose had to wait at the pharmacy and she won't be the last. The rest of your story sounds like a very impatient daughter who likes to exaggerate things...period!

Walmart on Houghton and golf links accusing customers of stealing

The wife was checking out at the self checkout and accidentally dropped a item into the bag, and they acused her of steeling, they questioned her and treated her like a hard criminal, and she offered to pay for the item but they refused her the option. She's is now being charged 500.00 for a 40.00 item. When you go to this Walmart watch your back they are looking to make money anyway they can. Don't think we will be shopping at Walmart any more. We run a business right up the street from them and give a lot of business to them every week.

How does one "accidently" drop a $40.00 item into a bag unknowingly???? How?

They don't! Your wife was trying to steal, got caught and tried to avoid being charged for shoplifting by offering to then pay for the item. It doesn't work like that. Complaining about it on a general complaint sight to try to make your story more believable doesn't work either.

Try paying for the things you want/need like everyone else. Also, you say you both will no longer be shopping at Walmart?

I don't call that shopping sir. Its called shoplifting and I'm sure Walmart won't mind if you take your business elsewhere.

They were using self checkouts sometimes they forget to scan a product and place it in the bag. Or people claim that is what happened.

We used to have self checkouts one of the stores close to where I live but they got rid of them because it was in a bad neighbourhood and people were doing exactly what the wife was doing. One mother was even caught doing this and slapped and blamed her child when caught. I am not saying she did it on purpose. If it was an accident they should have informed her she did not pay for the $40 item.

But there are other things to consider, like how many times she made this mistake.

How she was acting and *** like that. We do not know the whole story here.

First B
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-983144

However don't they ban you from the store if you are caught shoplifting. So the while my wife and I will not be back does not work because they are already banned.

Quanasia Fbj

I bet this is not the first time that the wife "accidentally" put unpaid for merchandise in her bag. Just the first time she got caught. She would have to do it for a while and have them suspicious of her.

Guest

So you control freak, why aren't you letting your poor little mistreated wife do her own complaining?

Quanasia Fbj
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-982819

Because the wife is three year old. I have reported this post to the police with concerns about a grown man being married to a three year old that is just sick and wrong.

Then again perhaps he is a control freak like you said and beats his wife. Either way this is not the first time the wife "accidentally" put an unpaid item in her bag. I am sure she had several times when she "accidentally" placed unpaid merchandise in her pocket, purse, bag, this is the first time she got caught "accidentally stealing. They were on to her, the husband is just upset that she got caught.

They won't be missed.

Stores generally don't like thieves. I wonder if there are other stores where the wife "accidentally" took things out of the store without paying for them if you get what I mean.
