Bought a toy for my son and he didn't open it for about three months due to summer vacation travel, on return home he opened and found some pieces of the toy missing. The receipt was with the box and the box opened by tearing into pieces.

Went to South Tryon Walmart to return with the receipt, refused to take it back because without box. First of all Associate was rude and an Assistant Manager came when asked for, she was more rude than associate can call her ill mannered. Spoke to Joe Store Manager and he seconded the decision of his staff. They say receipt will not show what the product is that why they need the box, which is not true receipt have product description and item code.

Will never shop at Walmart again as there are other retailers competing Walmart with better service.

I stopped Sams membership due to worst customer service experience. Looks like Walmart will soon have fall from rise as K-Mart.

I am NO fan of Wal-mart, but they are a BUSINESS and don't exist to simply give things away; although to be honest, I think a charity would have given you the same response.

What would you have done in their position? Have you ever sold someone anything before? If you have, what would you say if someone came back three months later (with receipt or not) and said things were missing?


You should have taken the pieces of the box back with you, at least the part with the bar code. Next time look at what you bought and don't wait three months.


Im sure you'll be back at Walmart next week. The reason why Walmart treats people the way they do is because you complain then go right back.
