returned item worth $258.16 ,got a gift card instead of cash ( store policy )

went to Walmart in another town bought a carpet cleaner paid for it with gift card . card had been compromised ( shorted ) by $98.01 They Walmart will do nothing about it .

have spent a lot of time and money trying to get this figured out and management treats this like it is no big deal .

it is no longer about the money but about my dam name . some how some one was able to use this card before i could - when i turned card over to the cash register person it was a hole card meaning had not been touched

Product or Service Mentioned: Walmart Gift Card.

Monetary Loss: $98.

If you do not have a receipt they have to give you whatever price comes up in the system. So if the price went down since you bought it, that is what you get back. If you have a receipt it can be over ridden, but if not they have no proof that the price is what you said.

Have a cashier pull a history on the gift card (it's easy to do). Then you can see if the money was never put on the card or if it was spent. My guess is either the item wasn't selling for the same price at the time of return, like first born said, or you spent some and don't remember it.

Did you have the receipt? Was it on sale in the last few months? Sounds to me like they are giving you the lowest price since you did not have the receipt.
