I have been a Walmart customer for over 40 years--1st in Kansas and for the last 25 years in Phoenix. Historically I have been generally happy with Walmart.
However, a new issues has emerged. I have ordered online for over a year from WMT and found prices in store and online to be similar but not identical--no big deal. But about the first of this month (10/17) online prices were increased by HUGE amounts--40 to 70% on several products. I then heard that WMT would price match the store.
I called WMT.com customer service on Sat 10/21 to double check before placing an order. I was told yes, just place order and call and we will price match store. I interrogated the person closely as to exactly how this worked and he put me on hold for a couple of min and came back on and said yes they would price match. I order two products (12 of Ragu pasta sauce and 5 of Ocean Spray cranberry juice) early 10/22 and called immediately for price match just as I had been told the day before.
This time I was told that they had stopped price match to WMT stores and I told them the cancel the order. I talked to two people who said they could not find my order which had just been placed and confirmed by e-mail because of system updating which was underway but that order would be cancelled as soon a update was complete or I would be issued refund if it shipped. The order shipped and I called on10/2.3 and was told yes I could get refund either by returning Items through the shipping company (not easy) or by takin them to a WMT store for return!!!! Even though I had been careful to do every thing right I could only solve the problem by taking action myself.
I believe that WMT should price match this one time because I was assured before ordering by Cust Service that I could price match but no they still refuse. Returning Item is too much trouble--I have poor eyesight and do not drive plus doing call tag through ups not easy especially with heavy packages. I am disappointed that WMT will not take any responsibility for giving wrong Info. I will keep these items and pay the ridiculous new online prices and learn from the experience.
BUT I WILL NOT BE HAPPY AND BELIEVE THAT WMT SHOULD ACCEPT RESPOSIBILITY FOR THE WRONG INFO GIVEN TO ME. I WILL CONTINUE TO BE UNHAPPY ABOUT THE NEW ONLINE PRICING POLICIES.
