Purchased microwave from WalMart...opened box to see 2 large scratches on the keypad. Turned on the kitchen main lights, and now I see where some person used an abrasive cloth or cleaner on the entire keypad...it is scratched over the entire area.

Finger prints on the door, too. I did purchase an extended warranty for 2 years at $5, I doubt it covers abrasions. I should have taken heed when my wife said the box has a LOT of extra tape on the top sealing the box closed. Should have gone to Menards or Lowes.

The only reason to purchase at Wally's was it was closer. Bad decision.

Someone probably returned the unit to Walmart for a refund for any number of reasons. It was a used appliance, who knows for how long.

Walmart just put it back on the shelf and sold it for the regular price. This is common. When you see something in a box that has obviously been opened and either re-taped shut or just plain open, it is best to take it out of the box and inspect it closely. The best thing is to not take it at all and pick a box that you know hasn't been opened.

Open boxes are a pig in a poke as you never know the history of the thing nor what is missing from the box, etc.

By the way: you actually fell for their "warranty?" It is a scam, you know. On a microwave???
