My girlfriend bought three Walmart Visa gift cards and the transaction was voided, however, she was still charged for one or two of the cards. None of the cards worked and she is down $50.00.

Waited and 30+ min.

on Walmart Customer Service and they couldn't do anything, but tell us to call the number on the back of the card because they are a third party and you can't talk to a real person on the phone to tell them the situations. As a result, my girlfriend is down $50 for no reason.

As long as she paid with a credit card, she hasn't lost any money as she can ultimately dispute the charge if needed. The back of the cards usually give a number to call for problems.

Tell her to do so. This situation is but another reason to never use a debit card, where your money is immediately taken from your bank account. As an aside, buying gift cards may be a popular way to give a gift but the bad guys have caught on to this trend and there is alot of scams, bad cards, etc. now associated with them.

Buying one off a rack in Walmart is especially dangerous as the crooks scan these cards which are just there, in the open to get the bar codes and then check them daily to see if someone has bought a card. They then use the numbers to buy products for themselves, etc. Do a web search for "scams with gift cards" or similar to see what I mean. Finally, your complaint about Walmart customer service is just another in a long, long litany of dissatisfaction with Walmart.

Do they care? No, not as long as people still shop there.
