I make several trips to Walmart Stores every week. Lately, I am finding the checkers are not working.

The parking lots are full of cars, and loose baskets everywhere from trash like consumers. The isles are crowded with shoppers and all 3 checkout lines are long. The other 12 to 15 checkout lines are empty, because there are no checkers.

One employee said they are all calling in sick, another says they don't have enough employees, and another says Walmart is training consumers to use the self service lines, by making it difficult to get personal service.

With the latter most likely being the straight story, I have other stores closer. I'm sure they won't miss my 3 to 5 hundred dollar contribution every week.

If people have complains about the store services or cashiers, it would be best to take it the store manager. Taking anger out on cashier, really has no impact.

I work in retail and seeing comments like this is actually funny. We don't take you comments towards us cashiers personaly. We just think you guys need help. Seriously.

Shoplifters are shoplifters no matter what, and I'm glad they get arrested.Don't blame the store or lack of cashiers for shoplifting. We get thousands of people a week 5 to 6 hundred dollars is nothing compared to what Wal-Mart makes a day.

I seriously have learned to ignore ignorant people who complain about everything and anyone. Admit it you guys are just unhappy with life itself.

Have a great day :) :p

besides you cannot swear at self checkouts and sometimes you need a cashier to take your anger out on. another reason self checkouts are bad, however you can purpoosly forget to scan some items, and you can kick the self checkout machines without getting assult charges.

I skip school once a week too, but why do they skip work if they get paid.

in one of the walmart stores i think in chicago, someone made an announcement all *** and walfare mothers leave the store, that will about empty the parking lot up.

"i can tell you right now that it's bs if someone said that walmart is trying to get people to use the self-check outs because walmart is going to be soon removing all self serve checkouts and replacing them with more cash registers."

I can only assume they are getting rid of the self checkouts cause even when they do work, people are too *** and/or lazy to use them. Was pointless for Wal-Mart, may have been a good idea but I think they realized it was a waste of effort and money.

lol, i really hope that both the op and kevin realize how ignorant they sound. first off, they're cashiers, not "checkers." i've been working for walmart for awhile and am a dept manager so i know how hard it can be to work for walmart and to shop at walmart as well.

and on to all your complaints... first of all, if the parking lot is full of cars, what do you expect walmart to do? tell them to leave? "attention walmart shoppers people are complaining that the parking lot is full, please leave, thanks." it's not walmart's fault when they get busy. if anything it should show what successful of a business it is.

also, if the parking lot is full and there's a lot of baskets in the parking lot, common sense would lead me to believe that oh look, it's busy and considering how lazy most american's are (myself included at times) they don't intend on taking the cart BACK into a busy store. they probably just want to go home or on to their next errands. again, if the isles are long... there's nothing walmart can do to fix it. you try being a cart pusher. it's not exactly easy. especially if they are short staffed or really busy that day. and considering cashiers generally double as cart pushers or customer service associates (return desk) that also would explain why there are few cash registers open.

i can tell you right now that it's bs if someone said that walmart is trying to get people to use the self-check outs because walmart is going to be soon removing all self serve checkouts and replacing them with more cash registers. chances are, the associates are calling in sick. due to the fact a lot of cashiers are probably college level kids - at least at my store - they tend to call in at least once a week. not even an exaggeration either.

and finally, walmart appreciates all of their customers, but $300-500 a week is not a big deal. when i help out at the registers (when it gets really busy), almost every single customer is buying between $50-100 worth of merchandise. many of them are return customers. and that is usually the minimum. probably about one in five customers are spending up to $300 and at least once a day there is a customer buying as much as $1000 worth of stuff. so think about it, if one register is ringing up about 100 people in an hour, 1/2 people per minute. and each are paying $100 or more, each register is making $10,000 +/- in an hour. times that three registers open and the length of the day AND how many thousands of walmarts there are in america alone. yeah, now $300 may be a lot to you, but for a multi-million dollar company making that kind of money, it's really not that much money to lose $1000 a month.

They should have slapped you and your parents. . .especially now for making such a idiotic comment on this forum.

If karma is the b*tch shes suppose to be you'll probably end up having your picture from 1st grade posted on the side of a milk carton.

Trevor I refuse to answer your question and take the fifth.

I tried saying that when the security guard asked me why we stole the glasses and skateboard and i said i take the fifth.

Kevin

You said you did not steal however here you claim thta you did steal because of lack of cashiers, just want to know did you shoplift or not?

To the OP, sounds the same in the store I work at. In the morning there are more cashiers that they have to step out of the cash and volunteer to cash someone out, at night long lines. This is ironic since a lot of the workers are high school, college age and would only be available evenings.

They probably make that in half a minute(or less), so you are not impressing them as impressinve as you 300-500 sounds to you it is nothing to them.
