Walmart was selling the prepaid gift cards. You paid a ONE-TIME fee (about $5), loaded as much money you wanted on the card, and you could save the card until needed, spend it all, whatever.
One-time fee, and you were good to go.
NOW, as of maybe a month ago, Walmart has stopped selling those cards, replacing them with that Green Dot *** With the GREEN DOT cards, you still pay that initial fee, but ARE ALSO charged a fee every month, whether you have used the card or not. So, for example, I loaded a few dollars, about a week later bought a couple things from Amazon. AND STILL HAD A POITIVE BALANCE. I just checked, my balance is now -.79 cents —NEGATIVE .79 cents!
That’s Walmart’s prerogative.
But it’s MY PREROGATIVE to call B.S. when I see it, and this certainly qualifies.
Product or Service Mentioned: Walmart Prepaid Card.
Reason of review: PREPAID Visa/MasterCard cards that NOW charge a monthly fee, even if I’m not using the card.
Monetary Loss: $250.
Preferred solution: Ring back the cards that didn’t charge a monthly fee you greedy ***.
I didn't like: Walmart taking advantage of customers.
